Raw is a hanging clock that showcases the inherent beauty of wood. With its texture, color nuances, and imperfections, the clock stands out as a unique and visually striking piece. The use of wood as the primary material adds warmth and a touch of nature to any space.
Fabricated using a CNC-milling machine and completed with hand-cut leather, the Raw clock seamlessly combines nature, craft, and industrial technology. This fusion of traditional and modern techniques is a hallmark of Ruiz's designs, creating pieces that are both timeless and contemporary.
The Raw clock measures 254mm in diameter and is 28mm deep, making it a compact and versatile addition to any wall. However, what truly sets it apart is its hanging function. Unlike traditional wall clocks with mounting keyholes at the back, the Raw clock features a leather strap that simplifies the installation process. No more trial and error or frustration when mounting the clock on the wall. The leather strap offers a fresh and innovative way of displaying time.
The Raw clock project was initiated in June 2009, with the prototype exhibited at the New York International Gift Fair in August of the same year. The production version was released in early 2010, captivating design enthusiasts with its unique blend of nature and technology.
Recognized for its outstanding design, the Raw clock was awarded the Bronze A' Furniture Design Award in 2013. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. The Raw clock exemplifies these qualities, making it a truly remarkable addition to any space.
With the Raw clock, Stanley Ruiz invites us to appreciate the beauty of nature and the artistry of craftsmanship. This hanging wood clock is not just a timepiece, but a symbol of the designer's dedication to creating designs that are both visually stunning and meaningful.
